What to do with a corrupt PST File

repair pst file

Having a bad pst file is about the same as having your whole computer go down.  At least for me.If you have a backup program installed on your computer then you need to ensure you have selected to have your pst file backed up as well.

Your PST file stores all your Outlook data including contacts, attachments, e-mails.  If you don’t know how to make a backup of this then we urge you to look over at this pst backup page.  It has a link to the free Microsoft backup plug-in that will help ensure you never suffer if your pst file goes down.

If you are currently suffering from a corrupt pst file then use the link above to learn the exact steps you can take to recover your data.  Keep in mind that in the end if the free methods do not work then you will need to purchase some pst recovery software to get the job done.  While the software can be a hard hit on the wallet it's nothing for the cost of all your e-mails back.
As you should already be able to tell the best thing to do is always have a back of any file you use a lot.Not only when the file is in good condition but alwasy before you attempt any repair.  The reason for this is you need to ensure you do not do more damage to the file.  so making a backup if the corrupt file is a good thing.  That way you can use multiple methods to try and get your data back without having to worry about doing more damage.

Microsoft has a free built in tool called scanpst.exe that is worht trying first because it's free.  It is a very week tool but if your issue is just in the headers of the file it will resolve your issue. If the file gets damaged more it will be that much hard to recover. It will only take you around twenty minutes or so to run the free tool so it's well worth a look and it's free so it should be your first option.

the Microsoft Outlook repair tool is the only free one on the market at this time.Microsoft in my opinion has dropped the ball a little on this and I feel thet should provide a bettter recovery tool.

If you are having an issue with your old pst file being too big and over the 2g mark then there are a number of free and paid tools out there that can help you resolve this issue.

Spyware Protection – Three Habits to Make a Difference!

June 26, 2009 · Filed Under Tech News · Comment

Above all else, it is the change in the user’s mindset and behaviour, which can help achieve effective levels of protection. This article describes three simple, yet powerful habits which computer users should develop to safeguard their personal information from spyware threats.

Adware Vs Spyware - The definition of adware is simply that of any type of software package that automatically plays, displays or download advertisements on your computer. Software which intrude in computers to steal and share user’s information are commonly known as spyware. Everyone should learn how to block spyware, because spyware can help third parties steal important information about us. Click on how to remove adware for more information.

Habit No 1 - Avoid Freeware. It is a fact that free content (song, movies, document etc) is appealing to almost everyone. Practically though, users may end up getting into more issues than they bargained for, when using freeware and peer to peer programs. Often when downloading these programs you may also be installing adware on your computer unknowingly.

Being careful will work to your advantage in the long run and this should involve downloading freeware from trusted sources only.

Habit No 2 - Ignore Pop Ups. Like most users, you may have accidentally clicked on popup ads from unreputable sites and jeopardized the security and your computer. The Google and MSN toolbars are free software from trustworthy sources, which can also keep popups at bay. A disadvantage with these programs is that they cannot deal with the programs which are already installed on the users’ computer and create a false sense of security. Click on block spyware for more information.

Habit No 3 - Be sure of what you install -You may be wondering also how you even exposed your computer to spyware threats in the first place. The answer may be surprising to you: Often minor tasks which are routinely performed can jeopardise the integrity of your system. For instance, you may be browsing a site and coming across a dialogue box that says you need to install a program. You may be tempted to just click “OK” or “YES” without a second thought and unknowingly install adware or spyware programs as a result. Unfortunately many free software come bundeled with adware and spyware. We hope that in the furture you will follow our advice and download software from trusted sources only. Do not download programs unless you understand their purpose. Be particularly cautious when you are visiting unfamiliar sites and are instructed to download something.

Just How Good Is Registry Fix V7.1?

June 21, 2009 · Filed Under Data Recovery · Comment

In recent years the range of computer threats has intensified, leading to increasing levels of registry corruption, slowing down computers worldwide and driving new demand for more powerful registry repair software. This article shares the results of one of the latest the review of Registry Fix V7.1. Tests were carried out by our testing team (Click on registry fix review for more information).

Registry Fix is extremely popular on Clickbank (largest digital marketplace). The purpose of our review sought to establish the capabilities of the latest version of the software (Registry Fix V7.1).

Our conclusions are based upon our independent tests, which covered scanning, detecting, resolving registry errors, and optimising computer performance, with a focus on the most common errors: Missing startup programs, invalid device drivers, invalid application paths, missing dll files, missing help files, missing system fonts, ActiveX component errors and other common causes of registry corruption.

Over 13 million downloads to date, now that our review is complete we understand why! Our review used several computers, with similar setups to most computers today: All had up to date anti-virus software,in order to minimise the large number of registry errors. Each computer had been in service for a period ranging from between 10 and 12 months, and from a software standpoint, each computer had had in the region of 25 additional software installed on them and in the region of 15 removed programs since they were first used.

In one of our test alone, Registry Fix actually uncovered 731 problems with the computer registry. Our testers thought that a great advantage of Registry Fix, is that Registry Fix V7.1 can fix much more than a handful of registry problems, for example Registry Fix also optimizes computer performance. (Click on registry fix review for more information).

During the Registry Fix review our testers verified that the free Trial Version Actually Solves Problems Too -  Registry Fix trial version can resolve up to 45 problems. This feature surpasses many of the solutions offered by the competition, which frequently offer to scan the registry for free, yet do not allow users to resolve problems unless they buy the full version.

The statement that “Registry Fix repair problems in 1 Click” is actually true - The most common challenge after finding Registry errors,  is usually to establish what caused them. Without software, this involves sifting through the registry line after line. Trying to fix the 731 problems manually would have been impossible. Instead, the “Repair Problems” button proved a popular feature with our testers who used it to fix the problems which had been detected by Registry Fix. In a matter of minutes, Registry Fix completed the scan of the registries and corrected errors at source.

Registry Fix V7.1 remain affordable for most users. The trial version is free and the single user licence only costs $37 for the basic package.

Registry Fix V7.1 solves many other problems too - Our tester were impressed by the fact that Registry Fix V7also fixes a lot more than just a few problems.Registry Fix can either run at pre-set times of ad-hoc. The automatic backup functionality means that users should minimize the risk of losing files, even when faced with serious computer problems.

Conclusion -Registry Fix V7.1 remains an impressive piece of software amongst the most popular programs on Clickbank. Click on registry fix review for additional information.
