The Big Windows Registry Swindle
Its interesting isn’t it how companies can build in obsolesce into their products? It also interesting how some manufactures can make more money from the cost of maintaining and running a product than they ever do from selling the original product. A good example of a product that makes its sellers little money to begin with but then rakes in the profit is Gillette razors; you buy a cheap razor and pay through the noise for the blades. You will probably still buy it though as you will think, well I still have some link in the other cartridges and I don’t want to change the printer.
Returning to the subject of built in obsolescence, this is less of a problem than it used to be when it comes to things such as white goods and other solid products. The reason for this is that manufactures are obliged to supply parts for these products seven years after they stop making them so repair is often now a real option. The area where built in obsolesce really does seem to still be a problem is that of software and in particular Microsoft Windows. The problem that Microsoft and probably a lot of hardware manufacturers have is that most people never use their computer to its full potential so although you can keep making better and better computers most people will never feel the need to upgrade. The activities that most people carry out on their computer of surfing the Internet and word processing, neither of these but much strain on a computer? And if you don’t upgrade, well guess what they don’t sell any computers and Microsoft don’t sell any copies of its latest operating system. So they Microsoft and the computer manufacturers get round the problem by building in obsolescence.
The first and probably most effective way in which they do this is that they encourage people making software to make it incompatible with older version of windows and older computers. At lot of the time the software being released has been built to put a strain on older systems even though it is often totally unnecessary for it to do so. The second and most shocking way in which the likes of Microsoft force you to spend more money and change your computer is that programs like Microsoft Windows slowly decay over time until they become unworkable, with the computer running slowly and regularly crashing. A lot of the time when someone’s computer begins to have problems they wrongly assume it is because its old and they need to change it. You do not need to buy a new computer you need to repair the windows registry. What’s the Windows Registry you ask? Well it’s a directory of all the programs and files that are stored by your computer. As you add and remove programs this registry becomes corrupted and your computer starts to run poorly, this problem can be easily fixed with a windows registry error repair tool so don’t buy a new computer make the one you have already run like new again.
How To Recover A Lost PDF Password
PDF files are excellent ways to pass around your documents are they can be viewed on any computer. Not just machines running Windows.
You can also make your PDFs more secure by putting a password on them. Before the PDF can be opened, the person who wants to read the file needs to enter a password.
Which is all well and good until the moment you need to open a PDF that’s password protected but you’ve put the password somewhere “safe”. Like in your home email and you’re trying to open the file at the office. It could be you’ve changed your email address or the email was on your old computer and never got swapped across. Or maybe your view was that you always use one of a handful of passwords so you’d not have a problem remembering it. It could be the PDF was protected by someone who no longer works for your company.
The other products that get protected by passwords are ebooks that you’ve just bought. For whatever reason, the product’s owner is paranoid and thinks that every customer has the ulterior motive of stealing their product. My personal view on this is that they should get real. After that, I re-name the PDF file so that it includes the password. That way it’s easy to find the password and I don’t have to hunt through all my emails to find it. I didn’t always do this and some early PDFs I’ve bought are still locked as not only have I lost the email but the firm I bought the ebook from no longer exists.
Often you only realize a password has been lost at the last minute. So you need to retrieve the password quickly.
There are a few ways round this.
You can give up and hope that there’s nothing of importance in the file.
If you’ve got time on your hands, you can start to enter all your “favorite” password combinations. Usually in the vain hope that you’ll quickly find the password you used to protect the file.
You can download an inexpensive PDF password recovery program that will do all the typing for you and will find the lost PDF password for you in a matter of minutes.

Fix Device Driver Errors
Having Windows drivers that work correctly is vital in order to prevent crashes and to keep your computer running efficiently. In many cases your drivers will continue to function with no problems, but from time to time some driver problems will arise. Luckily, corrupt drivers and other driver errors don’t have to be more than an inconvenience when they arrive. It’s possible to repair or replace any Windows drivers that give you trouble, making sure that they don’t cause unneeded problems or keep you from being able to optimize your PC.
If you have the installation disc for your Windows installation, you should be able to perform a repair function by inserting the disc into your CD or DVD drive while Windows is running. If you have corrupted or damaged Windows drivers, the system will repair or replace them automatically while the repair program runs. Attempting to repair Windows at the first sign of trouble is a great way to prevent crashes and keep your copy of Windows from encountering massive slowdowns and other running problems.
Running maintenance software to remove spyware and other forms of malware can reduce the negative effects that these harmful programs can have on your Windows drivers. Though a scan to remove adware may not fix all driver corruptions, but as part of a regular maintenance plan it can help prevent the corruptions that cause computer crashes and driver errors in the first place. Keeping your computer spyware and adware free can also speed up boot time and make your computer run better in general.
Should the driver that you’re having problems with be related to a specific piece of hardware or other computer peripheral, you may get better results by simply reinstalling the driver package for the hardware. This will ensure that a working copy of the driver has been installed to replace the corrupted one and will save you the trouble of further driver and software problems down the line.
